Umpires Need

The FHKL is always looking for umpires. If you have a solid understanding of the Khoury rule book and of the MLB rule book and you would like to earn a little extra money this summer, contact us.

Please note that all umpires must complete an Umpire Registration Form. Umpires under the age of 18 must also have their form signed by a parent or legal guardian. For more information contact us at cbugg26@charter.net or at (618) 397-4571

Help Wanted

As we prepare our diamonds and property for the upcoming season, there are many small chores that need to be done. The work ranges from raking leaves to clearing twigs and branches to locating and repairing base pegs, plates, and pitching rubbers.

We also have a few items that require professional help. If you are a fencing expert, a carpenter, or an electrician and would like to donate your skill and a little time, please check with us to see if there is anything on our list that you would be interested in working on.

For any job, big or small, please email us at cbugg26@charter.net or call our main phone number at (618) 397-4571. Remember that our organization is run by volunteers and the more help we get, the better our league operates to serve the community.

We look forward to working with all of you again this year.

Sincerely,
Fairview Heights Khoury League Board of Directors

Parental Note - Tuesday, March 15, 2011
A Note to Parents
It has been well documented that parental rage in today's youth sports is getting out of control and has a negative impact on the young people toward whom it is directed. Even in the relaxed Khoury atmosphere occurrences of yelling, name calling, taunting and other forms of pressure are known to exist from time to time. Perhaps the parents, fans and coaches that engage in this activity don't realize that their words and actions can have a long lasting and negative emotional effect on children.

In response to this trend, the National Youth Sports Safety Foundation, Inc. has developed a Sport Parent Code of Conduct which can be found at the following link:

http://www.nyssf.org/sportparentcodeofconduct.html

It is our hope that every manager, coach, parent and fan will read this and that they will forward this information to other managers, coaches, parents, and fans. By raising awareness of this issue, perhaps a few more kids will have a little more fun.

A Note to Players
One of the most important things you can do while participating in any Khoury program is to remember to have fun! The only things that are more important are to remember to always be safe and to always be a good sport. The whole purpose of the George Khoury Association of Baseball Leagues and the reason so many people volunteer so many hours to provide the Khoury experience is so that young people can play games and have fun! Winning is fun and it is an important part of any sport, but it is just as important to have fun when the other team wins.

We look forward to a fun and rewarding 2011 season!
